Influencing and negotiation skills

Being able to influence decisions and actions is an incredibly useful skill. This practical and interactive course gives participants the chance to try out new ideas and approaches to influencing.

Often run over several days, this workshop shows how influencing skills are also important in negotiations, and takes the participants through exercises to help develop their skills.

This course can also be separated into different sessions on how to influence people and negotiation skills.

Who will benefit?

This course will benefit officers who need to positively persuade and influence colleagues, council members or partnership organisations.

Because we write all of our training material ourselves, we can customise your workshop to suit your needs.

  • The role of assertive behaviour when influencing others
  • Active listening and questioning skills
  • Understanding and developing empathy
  • Constructive feedback and its role in influencing
  • Recognising the impact of gender and cultural factors
  • The effective negotiator
  • Putting your case under pressure
  • Understanding how and when to close the negotiation

We have had great success running this course over several days before, but we can also offer a shorter one day workshop. It can be presented to groups with similar job roles, levels of seniority or is suitable for an all women participation group.
